POLICE CHIEF’S CONTRACT EXTENDED

North Bay’s Chief of Police, Scott Tod, will be continuing in his role for at least another year, after the North Bay Police Services Board extended his contract.

The North Bay Police Services Board extended Chief of Police Scott Tod’s contract for one year with the possibility of an additional two year extension.

Tod has served in the role as Chief of Police for the North Bay Police Service since 2019.

Prior to being sworn in as chief, he served as deputy chief of the North Bay Police Service from 2016 to 2019. Previously, he served as deputy commissioner, investigations and organized crime for the Ontario Provincial Police from 2010 to 2015.

Tod originally joined the OPP in 1982 after serving for several years as an officer in the Canadian Forces, Maritime Command.

“We are very glad to see Chief Scott Tod continue in his role as Chief of Police for the North Bay Police Service,” said Richard Stivrins, chair of the North Bay Police Services Board.

“Under his leadership, the North Bay Police Service has made significant strides in many key areas from community safety to next generation tech adoption to homelessness and addictions response. Importantly, through his years serving as chief, he has implemented numerous health and wellness initiatives to support the mental health needs of sworn and civilian members and their families. The members of the police services board are encouraged by his continued work for the people of North Bay.”

Tod stated he looks forward to continuing to serve the people of North Bay in the role as Chief of Police for the North Bay Police Service for the foreseeable.
